Belkin adds modem to Mimo router
Belkin has updated its Mimo Pre-N wireless
router, adding in a modem, much like some of its competitors are now doing
with this technology (see original review).
With a built-in modem, the Mimo (Multiple Input Multiple Output) router will be more attractive to home users, where the trend has been over the past few year to buy all-in-one broadband routers, making it a lot easier to set up a wireless network and get access to the Internet.
Mimo technology uses the different antennas on a router to send and receive data on the same frequency channel, giving it better coverage and range. This also keeps speed higher over a longer distance. Non-Mimo routers transmit data in a single stream on one channel.
Called the rather snappy F5D8630 Mimo Router, it’s available now, we’re hoping to get it in for test soon and it costs £119.
