Nvidia readies Geforce 7800 for AGP
Nvidia starts shipping its new Geforce 7800 GS on Monday, giving those with AGP systems the chance to get graphics performance similar to what PCI Express computer owners currently experience.
While the industry pushes people towards PCI Express, many users are yet to make the switch, but still want the latest in graphics performance.
We've got various cards on test at the moment, including ATI's X1900 All in Wonder, and we'll add the performance results of the 7800 GS to the Test Bed tables as soon as we've tested it.
Loads of card manufacturers are shipping them, so in theory there should be plenty available, costing around £199. The top of the range Geforce 7800 GTX 512 has been in short supply, which you can give a negative or positive spin, depending on how you look at it.
ATI ripped into them, saying Nvidia couldn't get them to market. Nvidia counters that demand was far greater than it expected, all available boards sold out and it hadn't made enough GPUs.
Yesterday, it announced the GeForce 7300 GS and GeForce 7300 LE, its replacement for the Geforce 6200.
