Casio ups the ante in the compact megapixel war
It looks like megapixels still sell cameras.
Casio has just announced a new model in its Exilim range - the EX-Z1000 - with a 10.1 megapixel CCD.
We suspect that by cramming this many pixels on to a 1/1.8in sensor, noise levels will be relatively high - although we'll have to wait for our review sample to comment further on this.
Other features include a 2.8in LCD screen, 3x optical zoom and a movie mode with audio.
8MB of built-in flash memory is provided, but if you're shooting at the highest resolution this will cater for just one image. Of course, an SD memory card slot is also available.
The EX-Z1000 will be released mid-may.
