ATI releases Catalyst 6.6 drivers
ATI has just released its latest Catalyst driver - version 6.6.
Performance gains are claimed for titles including Far Cry (4-5% increase and up to 18.3% when using anisotropic filtering), F.E.A.R. (8.5% with X1800/X1900 single card systems and 14% with Crossfire dual-graphics PCs) and Splinter Cell (around 7% increase with X1300/X1600 Crossfire systems).
With the number of Crossfire users remaining fairly small, we suspect only hardcore gamers will appreciate such performance increases.
However, Catalyst 6.6 also brings with it a neat feature that lets you convert media recorded or intended for Windows Media Center Edition to formats including Mpeg2, Mpeg4-SP, Mpeg4-AVC and WMA files.
It will also optimise video for Ipods and PSPs.
Head to ATI's website to download Catalyst 6.6.
