Getting that syncing feeling with Nokia's PC Suite
Has anyone out there managed to get Nokia's PC Suite application working for more than a few days?
For those who don't know, PC Suite lets you synchronise your mobile (contacts, calendar etc) with Outlook on your PC.
In theory, it's incredibly useful: you can book in new meetings on the go as well as check availability. However, the reality is quite different.
Since downloading the latest version (v6.81) I've had no end of problems. At first it all worked well, with my Nokia N70 phone and PC happily exchanging information via Bluetooth.
However, it's now developed a problem whereby it syncs once and then refuses to have anything to do with my phone until I reboot. I only found this out after missing two meetings.
It's difficult to tell whether the issue is with Nokia, Bluetooth or a conflict with a third-party application. My guess is all three. Certainly Bluetooth has proved a tricky customer in the past.
Clearly I'm not the only one affected. Nokia's support forums are full of disgruntled users.
What are your experiences with PC Suite? Leave your comments below.

A friend of mine recommended www.zyb.com, a free online phone backup service. Its far better than PC suite. Keeping the features aside, I found it so simple and convenient. You wont imagine that I have uploaded 432 of my contacts and calendars in just 7 minutes.

I've just recently upgraded to PC suite 6.8 and it won't even connect now. It was going well most of the time until then. I'm going to retry installing the original older version that I got with my phone and see if that works. Damn frustrating. Wish I'd known about this before I upgraded.

Actually I am using it regularly with a nokia 6820 over bluetooth. It works fine for me. The only problem is that it can get confused when I synchronize both at home and work (keep re-creating deleted items).

Installation was a bit troublesome, but PC suite is overall fairly stable and easy to use. I'm in doubt however whether it's compatible with Microsoft Outlook '07...
