Bitdefender is moving into the UK computer software market  later this month with its suite of security products.

Softwin, the Romanian company which develops the software, is confident of doing well in Britain given its past success in other European markets.

Version 10 of its Internet Security package is being released at the end of the month and a big marketing push is planned between now and January to coincide with this.

Competing with Microsoft's OneCare will be a big hurdle but Bitdefender is offering something unique: 24/7 telephone support via an 0845 number.

We can't see Microsoft offering anything like that. Readers may remember McAfee offering 24/7 telephone support about 10 years ago, will they go back to offering it again? Yeah, right ...
