Your very own Xbox game
Microsoft is not normally known for reaching out to the tech community with any software initiatives. This is usually the preserve of the open source movement.
Well, now it seems that the software giant is breaking the mold and offering a cut down version of its XNA development software to the public. XNA is based on the hugely popular Visual Studio programming suite and is used for creating Xbox 360 games.
The software giant is hoping that regular gamers with a bit of programming know how will jump at the chance to create some home made games and submit them to an online repository where others can find and play them.
While it's highly unlikely that games of great quality will be created by non-pros, we'll look out for quirky games with that all important playability factor.
