PCW's PS3 first impressions
As if dealing with the biggest software launch in five years wasn't enough, a Playstation 3 landed on our desks yesterday.
So, even though some of us had been up since 4:30am and had a mountain of Vista stories to work through, we found the biggest TV in the office and had a little play on Sony's new baby.
Sony's PS3 UK-birth isn't due until March 23rd, but this is basically the retail unit you'll see in shops. It crashed once when playing Resistance: The Fall of Man (which looks rubbish anyway - think poor man's Gears of War) but the interface is very nice.
The game demos looked poor when compared with XBox360 games, but that should (should) change over time.
Looks crap. Xbox 360 games are at least a year ahead and is a much more established system. Stick with the 360!

Final Fantasy is going to be the make or break game on the PS3 for me. Holding out until then.
I do prefer the look of the Sony interface to the Xbox one, but prefer the look of my Wii.

all seems like a bit of a gimmick an underhanded way of insuring that blu ray becomes the format of choice why should we pay for that in a games console as always once the stand alone units are available either blu ray or super hd dvd who's going to want to watch a film through a games console I think this is a big mistake on sony's part if a games console is what they intended to make that is what they should have done you only have to go to the high street to see that the sales of nintendo's Wii is far greater they seem to be perminantly sold out where as PS3 are available in abundance I think they will cover it up and say that they wanted more units available to avoid people buying to profit as with the 360 and Wii i'd stick with my 360 anyday over a PS3 although it makes a nice but exspensive door stop lets see if sony can comercially brain wash people like they did with PS2 with the notion that it was actually better than the original XBOX (LOL)
