Mobile ATI crossfire nearing
AMD is to release a chipset/motherboard design supporting a mobile version of its crossfire for dual graphics cards in the next few months, Alienware staffers say.
Up until now, Nvidia has had things its own way thanks to a customized bus controller instead of two x16 lane PCI Express slots, combined with its MXM tech like in the Mesh Pegasus 7800 SLI notebook we reviewed last year.
Now AMD's gotten clued up and has created a more compact alternative to x16 lane PCI Express and we'll see it larger-than-life laptops before the years out.
