Nvidia Geforce 8700M GT on the way
A new mobile Nvidia graphics card, apparently the Geforce 8700M GT, will be released in three weeks time according to UK laptop manufacturer.
It will be the fastest mobile DirectX 10 card to date and should outshine the 8600M GT comfortably.
Despite physical updates to the new cards, we've found drivers are the key to increases in Nvidia based performance.
In our labs, after upgrading to the latest Forceware 165.01 driver (over a 101 driver that ships with many PCs) we got a big boost in 3DMark05: It went up by 400 marks and makes the card bang on twice as fast the Geforce Go 7600GT in this benchmark.

The fastest mobile DirectX 10 part.
Sure the Geforce 8800 Ultra and Radeon HD 2900XT are faster desktop parts, but they can't be fitted to a notebook, as per the story.

Currently the fastest laptop graphics card is the 7950-series, by far! The 8600GT is a mid-range card and should not be confused with a high-range / enthusiast card. The ATI Mobile 2900 HD is also a lot slower then the 7950, up to 25% slower in some games if you read other game fps tests. I recommend waiting for the 8700M before buying a gaming-laptop.

Is it faster than 7900GTX or 7950gtx?
And by how many procents?

The 8700M GT is not faster than the 7950GTX. The 7950GTX craps all over it as the resolution goes up. But if you have a notebook with a crappy resolution you should the best crappy DX10 card you can to go with it.

The first poster in this thread asks whether it is faster than a desktop GPU and then slates the website?? Huh, what an absolute retard, showing the world how stupid he is. Really man, get a grip on yourself! Great website, great articles. Petty about the childish and negative posts from people who clearly have not done their homework, or are simply too stupid to.
