Website offers 700 TV channels

Vlcsnap77499 Our attention has been drawn to Viewmy.tv, a website that aggregates over 700 TV channels from around the world.

Although there's the usual spate of shopping and religious channels, there's also a lot of quality content including BBC News 24, Aljazeera, BBC Parliament, Bloomberg, MTV, CNN… the list goes on and on.

The London based company claims channels are regularly monitored for stream availability and quality, and I've certainly found picture very good.

All the website does it pull together IPTV streams that are available on individual websites; viewmy.tv even provides the individual channel urls it uses, along with some basic HTML code so you can embed each individual channel into your own website. Most channels are formatted in Windows Media Video 9 codec at 300-700kbits/sec and should be viewable on handheld devices.

The site launched some months ago and remains as a 'beta' site. The company states: "Zero ad clutter and the absence of annoying banners and text ads means that the site not only looks sophisticated, but is straightforward and easy to navigate, a quality that attracts visitors to the site and encourages them to register."

Trying to be a social networking site is probably a step to far, but it's an excellent progression for IPTV - maybe it could be integrated into set-top boxes, like the Evesham iPlayer, so non-tech heads can enjoy TV from around the world.

Shame the ITV channel is just a mishmash of regional news broadcasts.

Too be honest this site is Rubbish. Nothing new, there are a bazillion of these sites:

http://www.tv-links.co.uk
http://www.freetube.us.tc
http://www.joost.com
http:/www.streamick.com
http://www.tv4u.com
http://wwwitv.com

Any of these are as good if not better.

I disagree. I really like viewmy.tv! You can find really strange and specialised channels on their as well as all the mainstream stuff.. i was watching the Duneden local news this morning from New Zealand where my friend is from.. just randomly stumbled accross it. The site is good.. its free and when I get all my friends to join it'll be just like having a myspace or facebook account.. but wuth tv. I think this site is one to watch.. it gonna be big!

hi yall just gonna chime in on this. I found that the site just sorta ripped urls from the web and some of those are clearly just illegally posted there without any actual authority to have them up on their site. The site is ok but its a little cheesy in trying to copy myspace I mean now everyones trying to be the next myspace but this doesn't stand a chance. Once some big media companies find out about it they'll tear it to shreds and I wouldn't expect the site to be up for long they don't host or control the channels so they're ultimately vulnerable to the owner. If I were the owner of one of the videos they're stealing I would put up some sort of advertisement banner so I could make money off of their theft.

Nonsense...common find a better IPTV site than viewmy.tv and i'd post you a tenner, all sites listed there are crap ! viewmy.tv dosent do advertising revenues (and i am no way involved with these guys) - in my opinion its all set to fly...

dudes, theres no subscription based/paid stuff on the site!!? its all freely available content. it works like youtube, people add their own stuff. i know of a broadcaster who has added their channel, its a great form of exposure. i think its great.. its totally legal.. there wouldnt be so much hype about it if it wasnt!!

i like viewmy.tv much better than the rest

tv-links.co.uk - pay content
freetube.us.tc - no social features
joost.com - no live content, eats broadband
streamick.com - no social features
tv4u.com - boring and uninspiring, not enough good features
wwwitv.com - no social features, just a text list

i like the way that on viewmy.tv you get to see the same channel that you were watching after you register or login... it's little details like that that will make http://www.viewmy.tv last forever.. well i think anyway :)

Yes, I agree! I watch www.viewmy.tv all the time, especially when I am at work and have no problems with it at all, especailly not with ITV

They now have created a Vista gadget, Mac widget and Facebook application too so you can access thousands of live streams quickly and easily! Check it out:

I would recommend checking this site out as it has so much to offer- fantastic website!

There are loads of channels to choose from, though I especially like the news channels.
